Open-air exhibitions and performances !
For the 4th consecutive year, the Village du Soir becomes an open stage for artistic diversity (photography, painting, sculpture, graffiti artist...) for a month. An open-air stage, for a stroll at the whim of encounters with the artists and their works. A
an event that reflects the cultural positioning of the Village, with that festive and friendly touch that only it can provide! Ready to embark on this 4th edition of the Village Art Fest ?
At the heart of the Village's artistic selection is the constant desire to surprise. To challenge the norms, while offering a format that appeals to both the villagers and anyone who has never set foot in the Village. This new edition of the Village Art Fest has succeeded in this challenge, featuring an opening on Thursday, 22nd May, and an exhibition of artists lasting over a month (until 28th June). Among them are Thibaut, a sculptor, and Djamel, a filmmaker and professional stuntman - a former member of the Yamakasi - whose remarkable artistic flair is showcased in a cinematic clip filmed in the Village, conceived from start to finish by him..
For Thibaud - stage name "Tib For Earth" - art must be accessible. As this "artist of the cities," his works are displayed for all to see, as an integral part of urban furniture. Works whose symbolism should not detract from beauty, carrying a strong message of peace and love. He is responsible for the new identity of Taboo, with this sculptural Aztec head suspended above the custom-made terrace for the Village, to be discovered during Village Art Fest alongside other works exhibited by the artist. "I am not just an artist, which is vital for me
is to be able to undertake. With Corinne and the Village team, we are going exactly in that direction. We have some slightly crazy ideas, and they are coming to life. It’s brilliant.
Another art, another atmosphere. It is in the realm of martial arts and the art of movement (Parkour) that Djamel, a professional stuntman, draws his energy and fuels his imagination..
A physical, dreamlike playground, where the choreographies borrow certain codes from the
artistic scenes. Starting from an idea, from encounters, then guided by music, Djamel has
imagined a tale that became a screenplay which he then realised in a cinematic music video "Genevice" filmed at the Village du Soir and unveiled exclusively during this Village Art Fest. "I took ownership of the La Carrosserie room in the Village to envision a place that doesn't exist, which is a mix between Miami and the Geneva Underground (hence the name Genevice). By playing with the lights and the decor of the venue, it gives the impression of multi-level architecture.".
A playground for a performance as beautiful as it is impressive, a first for the Village. And Djamel has more surprises in store for the audience as part of the Festival. …
Among other artists present during the Festival, Helnium with his art based on physical chemistry, Niki Zsurikova with her pieces inspired by the Renaissance reinterpreted on mirrors, and Michel Kergonna with his landscape photographs will all serve as windows into different ways of approaching art..
